Outreach

The Pepper Library strives to maintain a visible presence at the Florida State University and beyond by providing information about the Pepper Collection to researchers and scholars.

The library also dessiminates information about Claude Pepper's life and political legacy to the community-at-large and to middle and high school teachers.

The Resources for Teachers page includes links to lesson plans and group activity instructional materials appropriate for advanced middle school and high school students. This section includes a list of guides on various topics that students can access for papers and special projects such as the Florida History Fair. Also available are two multimedia exhibits from the Pepper Museum that allow students to explore Pepper's political philosophy and his commitment to workers' rights.

The Pepper Museum, located adjacent to the Pepper Library, is a permanent exhibit that interprets Pepper's life and political career. The museum is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F and admission is free. Middle and high school teachers and other groups interested in scheduling a tour should call 850.644.9217 for more information. A virtual tour of the museum is being planned for future access.

The Pepper Library also hosts rotating art exhibitions throughout the year featuring works by members of the FSU Museum of Fine Arts Artists' League and other artists. The Pepper Library engages in community-wide outreach by participating in outreach activities sponsored by the Community Classroom Consortium (CCC) and the Council of Arts (COCA). The library is also an active participant in the COCA First Friday Gallery Hop Program.
