Claude Pepper Collection

Series Description
Personal Papers.

The Personal Papers are divided into three record subgroups: the Claude Pepper Personal Papers (Series 401-439), the Mildred Pepper Papers (Series 501-511), and the Pepper/Webster Family Papers (Series 601-611). Claude Pepper's Personal Papers (146.8 lin.ft.) include materials such as Claude Pepper's correspondence with Mildred, his parents, brothers, sisters, other family members and friends, speeches concerned with unofficial matters, and his school, personal business, organizations, and organizations. Mildred Pepper's papers (25.2 lin.ft.) include correspondence with Claude Pepper, the Pepper/Webster family and friends, speeches and news clippings. The Pepper/Webster Family papers (18 lin.ft.) include correspondence and other materials primarily from Claude and Mildred Pepper's immediate family.

In addition, the Claude Pepper Personal Papers include the "Memoirs" subseries, containing materials that document his activities as a statesman and as a private citizen. They have been distinguished from other series groups because they are labeled "Memoirs," and may have been separated from the bulk of his papers for autobiographical purposes.
